As we all know, healthy skin is in! There are lots of ways to help your skin stay fresh, glowing, healthy, and youthful. Once you find the right products for your skin type and develop a solid skincare routine, it’s going to be as easy as 1-2-3. Whether your skin type is dry, combination, or oily, these tips will help you achieve healthy and glowing skin for the holidays!

1. Wear Sunscreen

This might be one of the popular tips on achieving healthy and glowing skin and girl, you better know by now why. Sun exposure can lead to skin damage. It’s medical and scientific. Exposing your skin to the sun especially between 10 am – 3 pm can lead to unwanted sunspots and skin aging. You may not notice it now but by the time you’re 35 and your skin is still as youthful as the 21-year-old girl next to you, you’ll thank yourself that you took the time to apply sunscreen daily. Yes. On a daily basis. Even if you’re just at home chilling, you got to apply that sunscreen.

2. Drink Your Water

Our body is made up of about 70% water. You need to keep your skin hydrated and the best way to do that is by drinking at least eight glasses of water a day. If you don’t drink enough water, your body will become dehydrated and it will show in your skin. Your skin will look dull and your lips will be dry too. Drinking water helps to flush out toxins from your body which benefits your skin. Start your day by drinking water and fill out your water bottle before heading out so you have access to water throughout the day. Say no to sugary drinks, sodas, and anything containing unhealthy additives! Remember, water is good for your body, water is good for your skin.

3. Eat A Balanced Diet

What you feed your body reflects on your skin. Healthy and glowing skin primarily starts from the inside. Your diet and nutrition as a whole are what determines the vitality of your skin. If you munch a whole bag of salty chips every single day, you won’t just feel unhealthy but it will affect your skin condition too. Eat well and make sure to include lots of fruits and vegetables in your diet such as blueberries which are rich in antioxidants. Switch your usual unhealthy snacks to avocado and guacamole or almonds, a great source of “good” fats that is essential to healthy skin. Don’t forget to limit your sugar intake too – collagen hates them.

4. Sleeping Beauty

Notice how your skin is instantly brighter, plumper, and more glowing when you get your beauty sleep? Skin repair happens at night. Eight hours of sleep does wonders to your skin. Staying up all night watching Netflix and skipping on your beauty sleep will give you dull, dehydrated skin and dark under-eye circles! If you’re having a hard time sleeping these days, try to set up a sleep schedule. 

5. Get Your Body Moving

Make it a habit to exercise at least once a day and get your blood flow going. After-workout glow is real and it’s not just good for your skin but your overall health too! It doesn’t matter whether you run on a treadmill or walk your dog to the park, just get up from the couch and move! Your body and skin will thank you.

6. Quit the Cigar

Bad for your health, bad for your skin. Smoking takes away the youthfulness in your skin, it makes your skin look dull, old, and unhealthy. You wouldn’t want to accelerate the development of wrinkles and fine lines, right? Don’t smoke.

7. Don’t Skip Cleansing

Makeup and dirt can clog your pores. No matter how tired you are, make sure to never skip cleansing and remember to cleanse well. There are many types of cleansers and you just have to find the right cleanser for your skin type. If you have dry skin, try moisturizing cleanser. For girls with oily skin, go for a foaming cleanser.
 

8. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!

Dry skin, oily skin, combination skin – whatever your skin type is, it is essential that you moisturize. Like cleansers, there are lots of moisturizers out there, and finding the right moisturizer for you is important. Grab the hydrating moisturizer if you’re on the dry side. Choose a lightweight gel moisturizer if you have oily skin. Use the cleansing process as a chance to give yourself a facial massage. Gently massage your face with your fingers to make sure that your skin will absorb the moisturizer.

9. Wash Your Sponges and Brushes

Don’t forget to show your sponges and brushes some TLC. After using your beauty tools, make it a point to wash them every after use. You may think it won’t hurt to skip the washing part, but it may lead to bacterial growth in your
 beauty tools. The next time you use your unwashed sponges and brushes, you are exposing your face to bacteria and it may cause unwanted zits, acne, and skin irritation. After some time, no matter how much you love your beauty tools, you have to let them go. Sponges and brushes have their respective shelf-life. If it’s too worn out, throw it out!
